socket.ioクライアント接続切断

Socket.io接続を複数回切断/接続しても動作しないのはなぜですか？

サーバー側のコード：

io.on('connection', function(socket){
    console.log('a user connected');
    socket.on('disconnect', function(){
        console.log('user disconnected');
    });
});

クライアント側のコード：

var socket = io();
socket.on('connect', function() {
    console.log("connected from the client side");
});
$('#connect_button').click(function(){
    socket.connect();
});
$('#disconnect_button').click(function(){
    socket.disconnect();
});

大丈夫です。しかし、再接続しません。 Socket.io 1.0を使用しています。助けてください。
