Ubuntu 18.04でnvidia-driversを更新すると、ラップトップディスプレイにアクセスできなくなりますが、外部ディスプレイは機能します。私の現在のディスプレイドライバーはGTX1070用のnvidia-410で、これが推奨されるオプションです。

奇妙なことに、外部4Kモニターは完全に機能していますが、ノートパソコンの画面は機能していません。ノートパソコンの画面は起動時に開くだけで、ログを記録すると停止し、外部ディスプレイのみが機能します。ログイン画面以降に外部ディスプレイが接続されていない場合ノートパソコンの画面が閉じたりフリーズしたりします。

xorg.confにlvdsのエントリがなく、xrandr-qの出力でもlvdsdisplayが表示されないことを確認できます。助けてください。参考までに私のxorg.conf is

ご覧のとおり、LVDSはどこにもありません。

Nvidiaドライバーが外部モニターで正しく動作していることを示すために、nvidia-smiの出力が実行され、外部ディスプレイに関する正しい情報を提供できます。
